Ethics & Sustainability

We’re working really hard to be transparent, to be conscious of the fabrics we use and the dyes and paints we use, we want to produce products in ethical environments that can be recycled to other family members and will last the test of time. We love nothing more than seeing our bibs we produced 4 years ago still in use when you tag us on Instagram.

What is Fast Fashion?

Fast fashion refers to the mass production of low-cost clothing, often made quickly and cheaply to keep up with the latest trends. But behind the low prices comes a high cost to people and the planet.

  • The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world after oil.

  • The average garment is worn only six times before being discarded.

  • Millions of tonnes of clothing end up in landfill each year, while recycling rates remain low.

  • Many fast fashion brands manufacture in factories where workers face unsafe conditions, unfair wages, and little to no protection of their rights.

The cycle of overproduction, overconsumption, and waste is devastating for the environment and for the people who make our clothes. By choosing organic, ethically made, and sustainable baby clothing, you’re helping to break that cycle and create a fairer, cleaner future.

From a production point of view we ensure our manufacturers offer a fair wage and safe working environment for their workers, we produce most of our products in Europe and all of our manufacturers have achieved GOTS certification, it’s one of our key criteria.

What Does GOTS Certified Mean?

At BabyBoo, we’re committed to creating safe, sustainable, and ethical products for little ones. From day one, we’ve used Oeko-Tex® certified fabrics, dyes, and paints, which are rigorously tested to ensure they’re free from harmful chemicals and safe for delicate baby skin. For us, this is the absolute minimum standard. In 2016, we began the transition to using GOTS-certified organic cotton across our ranges, and today 100% of our cotton products and knitwear are made with it. TheGlobal Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)is the world’s leading certification for organic textiles. It guarantees:

  • Organic fibres – GOTS “organic” labelled fabrics must contain at least 95% certified organic fibres, while “made with organic” labels contain at least 70%.

  • Sustainable production – strict limits on water, energy use, and chemical inputs.

  • Safe for babies – no toxic dyes, bleaches, or finishes.

  • Ethical working conditions – social criteria ensure fair treatment, safe working environments, and no child labour throughout the supply chain.

By choosing GOTS-certified organic cotton, we’re reducing our environmental footprint while offering products that are safer, softer, and longer-lasting for your child. We’re also expanding our sustainability journey by:

  • Using eco-friendly packaging, our mailer bags are compostable and everything else we use is recyclable. We reuse packaging where we can and we have a machine in house to convert our cardboard boxes we don't reuse into protective packing for our gift boxes.

  • Designing products with longevity in mind, so they can be reused, passed on, or sold on Vinted or our resell group on Facebook.

  • Partnering with suppliers who share our values of transparency and ethical manufacturing.

When you shop with BabyBoo, you’re choosing more than just organic baby clothes and accessories—you’re supporting sustainable fashion for babies and toddlers, designed to be kind to both your little one and the planet.

Wait there's more..

From a production point of view we ensure our manufacturers offer a fair wage and safe working environment for their workers, we produce most of our products in Turkey and all of our manufacturers have achieved GOTS certification, it’s one of our key criteria. They couldn’t be GOTS certified without high standards of health and safety and workers’ rights being met. One manufacturer also has external certification for social accountability under standard SA8000 and another complies with a code of conduct which is audited regularly by Amfori. The principles of the BCSI code of conduct range from fair remuneration to no child labour, along with a step-by-step approach that enables companies to monitor, engage, get empowered and receive support to put sustainable trade at the heart of their business.
