Climate Action Plan
Public climate action plan · aligned to the B Corp standard (Climate Action)
|
Our climate ambition BabyBoo supports the global goal of limiting warming to 1.5°C. As a small, owner-led children’s clothing business, we focus our climate action where we can make a genuine difference: the materials we choose, the partners we work with, the energy we use, and the waste and packaging we produce. |
1. Our commitment
BabyBoo is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our business and continuously improving our sustainability practices. We support the global ambition to limit global warming to 1.5°C, and we aim to make practical, ongoing improvements as our business grows.
2. What we are already doing
Materials & product design
We use certified materials such as OEKO-TEX® and GOTS (certified organic cotton)
We use water-based dyes to reduce environmental impact in production
We design durable, high-quality products intended for long-term use and repeated washing.
Our sleeping bags are independently tested to BS EN 16781:2018, the European children’s sleep-bag safety standard.
Responsible sourcing
We work with audited manufacturing partners to ensure responsible and ethical production
We maintain long-term supplier relationships that support continuous environmental improvement alongside consistent quality.
Energy
Since July 2025 our single site runs on an SSE Airtricity renewable-electricity account, and we monitor our electricity use annually (5,845 kWh in 2025).
We monitor electricity consumption through our supplier’s billing on an ongoing basis.
Waste & packaging
We minimise waste through product design and packaging choices, using biodegradable and recyclable packaging where possible.
Customers can choose a specific minimised packaging option when ordering on our website.
We reuse inbound cardboard and packaging for outbound orders, and incorporate surplus fabric into complementary products to reduce textile waste.
Much of our core packaging is sourced from Irish suppliers; carrier bags, boxes and tissue paper, flyers and printed materials supporting short, transparent supply chains close to home.
We are aligning our packaging with the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR): reviewing recyclability, minimisation and labelling of our packaging with our suppliers, and registering for extended producer responsibility (EPR) in Ireland through Repak.
3. Our commitments and targets
We commit to the following practical, time-bound actions; the specific targets that turn our ambition into progress we can track.
|
Commitment |
Target |
By when |
|
Sustainable packaging |
Complete our PPWR packaging review across all relevant suppliers, obtain and retain the available technical and compliance documentation for packaging currently supplied to us, and complete our Repak registration for Irish packaging EPR obligations. |
2026 |
|
Material sourcing (certified/accredited manufacturing) |
By 31 December 2027, have our principal manufacturing production undertaken by appropriately certified/accredited manufacturing partners. We will work with our existing long-term suppliers, to support them in achieving additional accreditation, while increasing production with suppliers that already meet these standards. Examples of relevant certification include; GOTS-certified organic cotton and OEKO-TEX® certified fabrics, dyes and paints. Progress reviewed annually. |
31 Dec 2027 (reviewed annually) |
|
Supply-chain transparency |
Following completion of our supplier due-diligence review in 2026, continue to carry out a documented review of our principal manufacturing suppliers annually — including an updated supplier questionnaire, a review of relevant certifications, and documentation of any identified gaps and follow-up actions. |
From 2026, annually |
|
Emissions awareness |
Continue to monitor our electricity consumption and operational energy use, aiming to reduce consumption where reasonably achievable. Review consumption at least annually and identify opportunities for further reductions via a multi-stakeholder approach, for example our employees and landlord. |
Annually |
4. Implementation and resources
Our sustainability actions are implemented through existing internal resources. Company leadership (the directors) oversees decisions and works with external partners where required, for example our manufacturing partners on materials, our energy supplier on our renewable tariff, and our Irish packaging suppliers on PPWR compliance.
5. Working with our stakeholders
We deliver our climate action by working with the people and partners connected to our business:
Suppliers & manufacturing partners: On certified materials, responsible production, packaging compliance and supply-chain standards.
Customers: Through durable, long-lasting products and transparent communication about our practices.
Our team: Through everyday choices on packaging reuse, energy and waste.
6. Governance and review
This plan is owned and overseen by BabyBoo’s directors as the company’s highest governing body. It is approved by the directors and reviewed at least every 36 months, and updated as our business and its impacts evolve.
